The uncoated surfaces look aluminum to me. I bought a set just like that from a GS that I am going to adapt to a CB some day. I will warn you they are heavy. I have not put them on a scale compared to a Lester, but they feel like cast iron!
Still a really cool set of wheels not often seen in the states.
All you gotta do is do what you gotta do.

I am not so concerned about the weight. it is just that old magnesium wheels can be unsafe.

If they're super heavy they aren't magnesium.

If I had a chance to weigh them, I could probably wager a guess...
I just thought someone may know what PVM did back in the days...

I have a set of EPM wheels for a DOHC or '77-'78 "F" with rotors available. They're in great shape. Lemme know!

Thanks, Ricky. I actually have a set of PVMs for a Bol d'Or. They are very similar to the set I showed in my original post. I am considering them for a project. But before I sink any money into refinishing them, I wanted to know what I am dealing with. That's the reason for the question.

That's cool, Mike. Maybe someone on the board will want a set. I've got a couple sets of PVM's as well, one SOHC and one DOHC. But if I still had an 1100F, I'd be using the EPM Magni wheels. Good luck with the project.

The greyness where the sprocket doesnt cover, and where there are chips in the paint look a bit like magnesium to me... Will post a mag pic. Look at the edge of wheel where its chipped.

You can polish a small part of the wheel and if it turns dark within a week or so, it is magnesium. If not, it is aluminum.
If anybody knew for sure what the PVM wheels were, back then, I could find out faster.... ;D ;D
