I read all the posts I could find, nothing sounded like it was definitive. How many links should I order on a new DID  630 chain so I can cut it to length and be correct for a 1978 CB750 F . I mistakenly ordered a 530 106 link chain last time. I'm trying to avoid another mess up. I just kept it for future use or may sell it.

Why on earth would you stay with 630? 530 is more than enough chain, easier to find and lighter. If you're ordering chain you probably need new sprockets anyway so just upgrade the whole deal.
All you gotta do is do what you gotta do.

When I bought the bike it came with brand new 630 sprockets, the rear already installed. So either get 2 new 530 sprockets and install them, or just throw on a 630 chain.I thought it would be easier and cheaper. I'm new to sprocket/chain selecting/installing.

I just found this. I hope it is correct. It says it is, but how do they know how many teeth/ ratio i'm running. Doesn't that change the amount of links needed? Just trying to avoid another wrong purchase. I have a 14 on the front,48 rear. I realize I do have some adjusting ability with tire position.

630 chain will last a longggggg time. But they are expensive.  I converted my 78 to 530 but it made no difference to the bikes performance.  I was not able to find a correct thickness 530 front sprocket and had to have one milled thinner.  It is a real pain in the ass cuz sellers will tell you they have the right sprocket and they don't.

The F2 and F3 had 14T front sprocket and a 43T rear sprocket for the 630 Chain of 88 Links.

I'm keeping the 630 Chain (oring) on my bikes.  At least until the sprockets wear out.
