Getting into the final stretch i found a place to upholster the seat. Not quite sure how it will come out. I gave her pretty much free reign on design because truthfully i dont even know what i want... Hoping for the seat to look somewhat stock but we shall see. Took the old king and queen and cut the foam into a more enjoyable shape and gonna hope for the best!

Well as the name implied "Spruce Goose" i have been inspired by Howard Hughes H-4. Last thing for me to finish up will be the side covers which i plan to make with heat treated wood but we shall see.

Started testing the clutch, and im starting to run into the clutch engaging but it wont disengage for quite some time. Im happy to see that when i pull the lever, the sprocket will actually stop; however, when i release the lever it will not start right up. My question would be if the bike is moving will the momentum from the forward movement also help with the engaging of the clutch? Have a feeling it should engage and disengage almost instantly

probably my plates are too used. MORE TWEAKING!

Determined the cause for the weird clutch must be from old friction plates. Just got the plates in so im soaking them and also got the bearings for the rear wheel. Let me tell anyone as eager as i was... Just wait to lace up the wheels until the hubs and bearings are good.
Since the plates are soaking i thought this would be a great time to hit the bearings; however, now i see how f÷=*ed the hub is, i wish i did this earlier... Either way its getting done. And HOPEFULLY ill have this beauty running by tonight!

Put on the new chain and tested if the new plates were the cause. Yep its engaging and disengaging like a charm! If anyone needs a new 530-100 chain i got one, found out after receiving it 100 links is too short

I thought 100 links was standard on most 750s with 17T front sprockets no?

@Ed That's what i read as well for a k4... But the PO put a 75f swing arm modified for drum brakes, which should bring it to 102 but im at 106. So if anyone needs a parts unlimited t530-100 ill ship it just pay shipping and its who ever wants it!

Had the toughest time figuring out the wiring situation, so i asked Cal some questions and well THE WIRING IS GOOD NOW. Mixing and matching a 74 wiring harness to a 78 battery box was a slight headache but its done! So glad i can push the push start instead of tapping the starter motor wire to the positive on the battery

Had an awkward labor day weekend as i was trying to take the bike around the culdesac but the cylinders seemed to only be hitting 1 and 4. Searched the forum saw a bunch of great info so i started with the points double checked to make sure that was ok. It was. Next i moved to thinking the wire harness had an issue with the blue and yellow wire because the blk/wht was fine. Used some alligator clips to bypass the harness, still same issue. Finally to what seemed to be popping up the most CARBS! Ya well i forgot to adjust the idle screw and that was kind of my fault... Thought i evened them out when i put them together NOPE! Put them all seated and brought them out about 1-1.5 turns out and she fired on all four. Still needs some fine tuning, but its a good feeling doing these diagnostics and getting positive results!

i try to update as much as i can and today i decided to address the charging/electrical system problems i have been having. Prior to wiring, i assembled the engine as well as the stator harness and since i did not know the wiring diagram i assumed the white wire was something negligible... WRONG. THE WHITE AND GREEN WIRE ARE THE SOURCE OF THE POWER. UNLIMITED POWER as a certain jedi would say...
Since i have a charger for the battery, i didnt care too much whether or not i held a charge or not. But as i draw closer and closer to being finished it makes more sense to sort out the electric system. Im hesitant posting a picutre of my wiring as i told Rafi already id probably be crucified for my neglect. The orderliness will come later, it just makes more SENSE

Charge is good! But the down side is my dog is afraid to come into the backyard now... I swear he thinks the spruce goose is another animal i care for more than him! To be honest he means more....

Spent alot of time searching for a place to buy some wood, found a cool place in los angeles where they sell reclaimed wood. Going to check it out today to get started on the side covers. But shes coming along. Final things needed are: rear shocks, speedo, brake lines(19 inch tire is wayyyy to close to brake line), left hand control and raised bar setup!

Started the side panels, the electronic cover will be an assorted panel and im planning to work with one solid peice for the oil cover. Most likely i will have to fab up a mount to anchor over the electronics... Not too sure on the oil tank though. Will probably think of something tonight. Heres a mock up i made still needs some sanding, some kind of coat, and final finishing peices but im pretty happy with how its coming along. Should be interesting thats for sure!

Procrastination at its finest! The build is moving along wonderfully, and the things i neglected to do months ago have finally worked themselves out. Since the shocks from Dave Quinn arrived i thought it would make sense to also change the swingarm bushings to the brass type as provided by kenosha_kid in Germany! Still waiting on the trucklite to arrive but will probably go pick up an h4 bulb in the mean time. Its one thing to tune the beast in the garage, but when i took her around the city she bogs between half throttle and wot. I've read this is due to the velocity stacks i chose to use and the jetting not being set up correctly. I have some extra mains so i may drill and with them and see what happens. Other than that the covers seems doable. I quickly fashioned a mount for the electronics which will later be covered by wood paneling... The only thing im trully hating right about now is the solid piece of wood im using for the oil tank. Its going to take some time but it will be well worth it! Dont mind the probe i was checking the revolutions using the red as ground. Also i hate those f\÷$king oem swing arm bushings... I literally have been riding around with the half bushings and no metal caps over the ends. Every time i felt a bump i thought that was it!
Hope to get some actual pictures up once shes to my liking!

Finished up the last of the covers, took a lot longer than i expected... Not sure if it will hold but ill find out after i ride around! Still going to coat the wood, but that can be done another day

Past few months I've been tuning the carbs driving around with different settings and pulling the sparkplugs. Definitely is much smoother than when I initially started her up. Next step is to get the new handle bars fitted, which is going to need an extension on the brake lines. I will probably fab a tube to route the line a little further. Currently the handle bars are OK but I feel that the cruiser bar will be a lot more comfortable!

Catching up on your thread. The wire wheels in the dremel should not exceed 15000 rpm or the shed wire like no tomorrow. Really unsafe as they can put an eye out or imbed shallowly in your skin. They will work well when used at lower rpm. I usually keep them below 3 on the 5 scale. If they are shedding wire then even lower. The dremel brand brushes are better quality.

Anyone have any good experiences with a brass wire bit on a dremel? I picked up a few bits but they shoot out all the wire after a few minutes of use... Im really liking the finish of the case from just going over it with brass wire on the drill, but the hard to reach places need the dremel.

@raf I definitely found out the hard way about that... The dremel had about 50 individual pieces in my arm/forearm it sucked but learning is best! Switched over to scotchbrite and finer abrasives.
Past few months I have been tweaking the carbs. Holy jebus I thought I had good settings but she tricked me! Slowly getting to the ideal settings but the screws are still moving...
As I get closer and closer I can't help but realize IT WILL NEVER END! The funny thing is that I am OK with that

So it's been quite a while since I've posted but that's because I'm still getting the goose to where I want her... It's getting somewhere and nothing but fun. Truly enjoying every second of it! Ran into some noob problems though misdiagnosed what I thought to be a car issue but it seems to be a timing issue. So tomorrow I will be switching a spare points that I got just in case the original one was just too well used wish me luck boys cause this should be what I hope to be the final stretch!

Turns out it was the points... most likely the condensers but after i changed the whole assembly, shes riding like a whole new bike! No more backfire, pulls in all gears, and the engine isnt getting as hot as it was before. The whole time i thought it was the carbs... but once it was ruled out it had to be points! TIME TO GET HER BUTTONED UP!
