Yep, Frank likes to polish his tool, not that there's anything wrong with that............

Anyhoo, I got home around 4pm and being winter here it was cold, wet and already getting dark. I quickly changed out of my business clothes and into something a little more comfortable (sweat pants, flannel shirt and slippers) and wandered out to the garage to see if I couldn't find another wire brush to clean the hub some more.

As is usually the case, I found several stainless steel brushes, so was able to clean the remaining corrosion/crud from the exterior, so all I need to do now is clean up the brake drum, and I should be good to lace it up. By the time I finished it was dark, and my comfy chair and liquor cabinet beckoned. More tomorrow! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I've got plenty of cams hanging in my wardrobe Bobby Lou, but they're Auscam, not Woodlands? ;D

As long as they work and fit the AusCamx would be fine.  All plumbers should be required to wear coveralls or overalls to end the visual assault of plumbers crack...
Don't know if Woodland Camo would be very effective there...would it?  Most areas that are lush which I have seen photos of don't have the mix of wood and dark colors many American forests have.

Read where a dark green camo of particular shade was far more effective at night in green areas than widely used black for SWAT, FBI counterterrorism, and the like.

Yeah mate, woodlands don't work here, but nowadays with hand held thermal imagers available, I don't think it matters much what you wear, they're gonna see you coming..... ;D

Supposedlu the desert camo used by the army in iraq was modestly effective under certain conditions...
They have eliminated black from all camo as it shows up blazingly white on IR.

Ha ha, a mate of mine was a grunt in Vietnam, back then everyone just wore greens, anyway he was bringing his section back in to Nui Dat FSB after a patrol, when "Puff the magic dragon" flew overhead.

Now it had been raining, and was just on dusk, so the Aussies greens probably looked black, because next thing that happened, Puff opened fire on them! My mate Greg tried to get them on the radio to tell them to Fcuk off and shoot some REAL Charlies, but they weren't picking up, so he ordered his section to return fire.

Apparently that worked, because none of his guys were hurt, just a little pissed off..... ;D

Are you a vet Jerry Joe Jr? I know Larry Billy Bob and Bobby Lou are, I'm not of course, I was only 13 when Oz pulled out of the funny country, but I was "raised" by vets from age 17 when I joined, so heard lots of stories, and enjoyed most of them. ;D

Wow, this thread has it all!
Wardrobe
Whiskey (weekski)
Cars/Trucks
War stories
Machine hygiene
Hat choices
Music
Hoists
No wonder Terry isn't getting it done...........the bike is covered with too much B.S. ;D

Now if someone could come up with a cure for Male Pattern Baldness, I think it would be complete! ;D

Hey hey hey! I'm getting it done mate, I might have boasted a few months ago that I'd have it finished in a couple of weeks, but hell, I'm only as fast as eBay/USPS, so I welcome the banter between bouts of actual activity! Anyway, it's too bloody cold to ride for another few weeks, and I've got a sore toe, and I think I'm getting dandruff..... ;D

It's all good Terry, but if you don't hurry we might have to send Martin over to help you, since you two get along so famously.

Now that would be multi-cultural, A Limey and Aussie building an Merikan Redneck Japanese motorcycle, with cheap CCC parts no less. What could go wrong? :o

Ha ha, I think Martin's in hiding mate, his redneck Bsa/Triumph hybrid is a proper nightmare, not a well engineered Jap bike that just needs me to bolt the parts on as they're delivered. We're (not) enjoying some particularly cold "British" weather here this week (so much for global warming.........) so when I got home from the doctor's this afternoon I poured myself a generous rum and turned the heater on, and I haven't ventured outside.

It's my fortnightly visit to see my old my ma in the little country town I was born and raised in tomorrow, so not much will happen bike-wise this weekend, but hopefully I'll get that hub laced (and maybe the front too) so I can get me some tyres fitted, by which time I guess I'll have to lift the whole bike off the stand and put it on the ground. Stay tuned! ;D

Yeah, the draft bit me in the ass in '71. Some things you just can't ignore but school was one of them. Mr Nixon was not. I did my time. I managed to get out of combat medic training though so I survived. I dodged the Army Reserve afterwards better than I did the draft.

Corn pipe match the outfit!  + mecdical green stuff containing correct letter combination such as low THC and CBD to calm down.
HPS is still the best, right? OK LED alternative need >400W. We talk about chillies right?

The Corvette guys in the town I visit now in US has the street cruising evening, engines sounds very hot, not original and nice sounding pipes. I saw, more heard Vipers too.... One mustang had turbos, but the blow off valve opened too early in my ears, just a little wheel spin and it farted.
My US collague has a good new Pickup, Ford F-150 that transport us. My rented Chrysler 300S with 1200 miles is parked. I hear that I have to change to a big nice American car.... yes, why not. Audi with small turbo charged engine is sudenly not that interesting....

Ha ha, I'm a big fan of the Roadkill Garage boys, and was particularly impressed with the diesel truck turbo they fitted to a tired junk yard 5.0 litre ford V8, almost doubling it's BHP and torque figures. I might have to find some plans for installing my spare Subaru turbo on the Ol' bitsa..... ,D
