Hi Terry-Bob!

I met a guy from Melbourne last week in Santorini Greece, he talked about snow. Is that really possible?
Greece however got the heat a few days ago 35-40*C and winds from Sahara made me feel to stand too close to an open oven. Riding a bike there will be hotter by the speed. We returned home to 20-22*C in time. I've missed my bike too ;) D)

Freezing car windows is common here. I have an electrical heater permanently installed in my car, connected each morning from October to April. It has an oil pan heater device too as many other at latitude 60 degrees north.

Hey Pewe, well I have seen a very light dusting of snow on the outskirts of Melbourne once or twice in my life, but not snow as you know it. Up in the "High Country" they get pretty good ski-able snow in winter, but all resorts rely on snow making machines to bolster the natural snow. I think we're gonna get some rain this week, so I hope that doesn't interfere with my bike building, I need to get this one finished so I can start on my 1969 K0! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Here is my sissy bar with my red backpack for visibility. I put my camera in there, some baby wipes, a locking cable for my helmet, ear plugs, an extra clip. If I don't bring the camera I have some room for small items. I can use the bungees to tie things to the front.

Bobby,I hope you're not running your bike on 100 octane from that ancient pump..  :o  :D

Nope. I found them in front for a closed gas station. They are period correct for the bike so I shot the pic. No i have no parachute, never used one luckily.

Thanks men, well I got home from work and was happy to see a couple of boxes waiting for me. One contained that powdercoated swingarm that I bought on ebay, and the other a heap of "Big 8" bolts from Yamiya for my K0 project.

Sweet swingarm by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

Now several years ago I bought a couple of sets of bronze swingarm bushes from that guy in Germany, I used one set, but as late as only a few weeks ago, I remember looking at the other set in my garage. Well fcuk me sideways, I went thru all my boxes of new parts tonight, and couldn't find them? Poop!

Oh well, the good news (I guess) is that due to my pathetic memory, it appears that I've "doubled up" on several items that I've bought, so I found both the genuine Honda left switchblock that I bought for my K0 project, and another new replica one that'll be much appreciated on my K2 bitsa.

I've also found another complete set of "Big 8" bolts that I must have bought from Yamiya many moons ago, that'll probably now feature on the Redneck bitsa bike, plus new rubbers for mounting the tank, sidecovers, battery box, tail light etc. God knows how long they've been in my tubs of new parts, but either way, it's a good thing. I also found a bracket for a frame mounted steering damper, an oil cooler adapter and even a NOS air cap set for the forks! It's gonna be one sweet, sweet ride.......... ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Good to have extra parts in stock.
I have also some extra in boxes from DSS, Yamiya and German eBay seller Andy Cepok. When the pile of parts have grown a lot, just find a frame with valid licence plate...

How does that work mate? Over here I just need a frame that's got a serial number on it, to get a "Club plate" when I've built a bike out of it. I don't need any proof of previous registration etc, as long as the finished bike is in a roadworthy condition, I can ride it on the road. Cheers, Terry. ;D

In one fell swoop every thread on every forum I follow has been ruined by photobucket. This is very lame.

Cool bike Terry. I dig the finned covers and drilled out chain cover.

It must be possible to prove that the bike has been registered before if the registration has been lost. Old numbers that can be traced in the archives.
If not, the bike can be registered again as a NEW bike and today's emission rules must be fulfilled.
- A CB750 SOHC as model 2017 and emissions OK?  That need some rework ;)

Ha ha, when I was a young soldier I had a sticker on my K1 that read "Is there life after death? Fcuk with my bike and find out!" Maybe I should see if I can find another one?

My first bicycle that I was given for my ninth birthday had Tassles Bill, and some kid decided that he'd prove how tough he was by pulling them off my bike while I was sitting on it. Long story short, it didn't go well for him, it was probably a life changing moment. ;D

Open up any of your albums on PB, look for 'actions' over on the right side of the page.  You will see 'download album' which will let you download the contents of the album to a zip file in a location of your choosing.  You can do all that while closing the interminable ads and pop-ups. It will be best to not be in a hurry. ;D

I had a1966 volvo I drove for many years, year round..  I put a freeze plug block heater in it when I did a head swap and changed the camshaft.
It made startups on sub-zero days a non-issue and the car was essentially warm when you started it, RainX the front and rear glass and use wax on the side glass and the car would be warm inside and have clear windows by the time I squeegied off the frost or if thick then scrape it.  RainX made frost removal a treat, many times a rigid squeegie  about 4 inches wide and I could have the front or rear glass cleared in 3 minutes or less.

Volvo makes a battery blanket heater as temps well below freezing can cause a battery to explode from freezing, plus cold batteries are not capable of providing even close to rated capacity.

Sorry for OT...
That kind of heater works really well. I had one in a Volvo 142-69.  My Audi 1.8T Q however has only oil pan heater. Water hose heater not possible, all temp sensors will be tricked.
Batteries works fine here at -25*C. It's now the battery will show its status and a lot of people must replace it. Many batteries can have good data, the cold start amps is the vital data. Battery must be charged really often when used in city with shorts runs. I should have added a charger together with the heater device so battery will be charged 2-3 hours every morning when heaters are plugged in.

I have seen Tv shows with the sudden ice storms in Canada when warm wet air from the Mexican gulf  comes for a visit meeting the cold northern air.

My K8 with a good battery seems to start are fairly low temps. I had a KZ440 at one time. Below 30F that sum#$%* would not start whatever I did. My cars start ok here in southern NY since it rarely gets near 0 F.  I have been places where I had a rental I would plug in. Rain X is a great product it really helps in the rain and removing snow and ice. On a trip for Fla, I put Rain X and new wipers. The windshield dried so much the rubber started to wear off the blades.

Geez I've got an unopened bottle of RainX in my garage that I bought on a whim, a couple of years ago, it's winter here so I might have to give it a shot.

No progress on the Bitsa yesterday Bill, I got home last night to find my Cinematographer son battling with a front axle replacement on his twin turbo Subaru. That kid probably makes more money than I do, but he's grown up watching me twirling spanners and he told me that working on his car is cathartic for him, which worries me because I don't know what that means? He's got a girlfriend, so I guess that's OK?

Anyway, what's more Redneck than a couple of dudes pulling a car apart in the driveway? The fcuking nut on the end of the axle was so tight that he couldn't crack it, my rattle gun couldn't either, and I broke a beautiful Sidchrome 1/2" Drive extension bar with my massive strength! Fcuk!

Eventually it succumbed to fire and a 5 foot breaker bar, and we called it a night. Tonight after work I'm gonna buy a couple of 10 foot long PVC Patio curtains to hang on the other side of the lattice to keep the rain and some of the wind out of my little outdoor workshop, and maybe a patio heater too. More to follow, over. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

More to follow, over. ;D

That nut on the end of the CV-joint axle must have gotten some rust on it heavy for you to break an extension trying to remove it.
