Calling CB400F experts!
« on: May 07, 2017, 06:23:33 PM »
Hey guys, plan on purchasing this Blue '75 CB400F tomorrow.

https://goo.gl/photos/xVAnfUqGohpjpGVd9

It's a ground up restoration from 2008, with headers, collector and muffler replaced ($1500) in the past month. Only the horn is missing.

Motor, trans and clutch have been rebuilt as well. Other than receipts, checking compression, leaks etc, what else should I be looking for?

Also, check the date code on the tires.  Good luck with it

Anyone know what compression should be on a rebuilt motor? Couldn't find factory specs.

Ratio is 9.4:1 I believe.

Edit: should be 138

most HOnda fours are 150 cranking with throttle wide open.  No more than 10% variation

Nice looking 400F.  With all the time and effort that went into it, it's too bad the tank decals are incorrect.

Thanks for the help boys. Bought the bike. The decals are from a yellow 400. Looks unique but I'll probably fix it since there's no clear over it.
