Front turn signals ALWAYS ON! NORMAL?
« on: July 18, 2020, 01:42:08 PM »
Could anyone confirm that Cb550 turn signals are supposed to be lit up all the time when the bike is on? Is this factory? My signals work but instead of flashing from “off to on” like the rear signals, the fronts flash in an “on to off” sequence when activating the signal switch.

Yes, this is by design. Some folks disconnect that wire to save amps but I would suggest LED bulbs instead. At dusk and at night this helps identify you as a bike to oncoming drivers.

That’s what I figured! Thanks so much.

Check your bulbs. They are probably dual filament (like your tail/ brake light). Two separate circuits. Running lights and bright flashers.

Depends on the model. You didn't specify yours.

I also got the timing pretty close and it runs pretty well now. Took it out for its first ride! Now focusing on other issues. Thanks again(:

They should have dual filament bulbs like the rear light where the small fillament is on all the time (blue/white&orange/white wires) then flash the large filament (blue&orange wires).
Some US states require the running lights to be fitted

Wow! Great thinking! So I take it that, whenever a bulb blows, bike will pull over by itself? ;D

I think its a good idea. Anything that can make you more visible in day or night  and identify you as a motorcycle is a good thing.

Orange daytime running lights are illegal in the UK.

Instead of that inferior sealed beam (also mandated by US law) and forcing Honda to dress up good bikes as runaway scooters from a fairground, US legislators could have chosen for tested and proven quality instead of quantity. In Europe we had less 'show' but a damned good headlight (many even came H4 equipped) that makes you not only visible (an overkill actually) at day, but also offers a far better night vision.
