CB550 carb Electroplating with copper
« on: May 08, 2017, 11:34:14 PM »
I decide to try something new with my carbs. I stripped them down completely, re-jetted high's and low's and tried my hand at copper electroplating. I used a plastic container and filled it with Muriatic Acid. Took a motorcycle battery and a battery charger and hooked the negative lead up to the pieces of steel I wanted to plate, while the positive lead is hooked to a pure piece of copper. Each piece took about 20-30 minutes. When I took the pieces out it was like they were completely oxidized with a ton of buildup, but after cleaning and brushing them they came out amazing! Let me know what you guys think.
