Thanks for the reply. Twisting the seat didn't release the seat from the lock, but it did give me enough room to wrench the plunger off the seat, giving access to the seat lock bolts. The only damage involved was minor scuffs to the seat upholstery, but nothing noticeable.
Btw, 4into1.com noted that some of their seat locks were defective, so they're sending me a new one gratis, along with a new ignition switch so I have one key for both. Great customer service. Also, the "improved" ignition switch they sell is fantastic - much better than OEM.
