Best answered by Mike R (in my opinion)

Agreed, I sent him a text a minute ago. I hope I get good news
If you can't fix it with a hammer, it's an electrical problem... If it's an electrical problem, it's Cal's problem.

in happier news. im really liking how its coming together!

I did some custom work to the front fender. It looked way to big compared to the shortened rear fender so I chopped it up and rewelded it back together so I could keep the lips on the front and the back.

I also just got Hagons installed. I actually bought these new, sold them to Eric, then ended up needing another set so I called him up and he was about to pull them off his bike so I bought them back from him  :P

If you can't fix it with a hammer, it's an electrical problem... If it's an electrical problem, it's Cal's problem.

Off to Dallas for the rest of the week for business, it's well timed because I'm not emotionally ready to take that motor apart again  ;D

Bryan, if ya any consolation I just built a 350f motor and after putting it all together I realized my pistons were facing backwards. Had to re do it all, with new gaskets. It happens. Just be glad you caught it now instead of potential damage at start up. Bike looks aaaaawesome by the way!

I have a rebuilt set of 022A carbs from my '74 build and the stock carbs from this bike (1978 PD's)...

Since I have the option, which carbs should I run on this '78? I have heard the early 022A's are better carbs and easier to tune (I have an extra set of manifolds also) but I dont have much experience with either.

The PD's have a "screw in" mainjet, but a press in pilot jet. I can't remember if there are different size pilots available? I've used a tapered jet reamer to enlarge these PD pilot jets. I think there is a boatload of malarchy surrounding these PD carbs because I used a set on a "592" and they tuned in perfectly.

It may be that the lack of different pilot jet options will cause you grief, if so use the earlier carbs!

I already have extra intake manifolds, do I need to run anything else different with these?

Looks good Bryan, as does the new Ducati.  Are you prioritizing the stock 550 so you have a running vintage bike, and then go back and forth between the monoshock 550 and Streetfighter?

Looks good Bryan, as does the new Ducati.  Are you prioritizing the stock 550 so you have a running vintage bike, and then go back and forth between the monoshock 550 and Streetfighter?

Ya I want this 550 to be running then I will focus on the monoshocker
If you can't fix it with a hammer, it's an electrical problem... If it's an electrical problem, it's Cal's problem.
