CB550 1974 putting it all back together
« on: May 15, 2017, 03:44:45 PM »
Been lurking on the board for almost 2 years.  Been working to get the 550 back together. It has been apart for 2 years and 3 moves.
So far I find just a few small bolts might be missing. Pretty much have it back in an assembled state. The carbs, I have waited to tackle last. I never have any luck with carbs.   :-[
I have one part stamped metal part. Not sure where it goes so far.  It is not showing I any pictures I took. It does not look like a Harley part.  :P   As a few have been mixed in. I will take a picture of it if I cannot figure out where it goes and post got HELP!
I loved my 1972 500. Bought it used in 1974 as a young man,  :-\
Think it was an F model as it had a 4into1 exhaust.  I got this 550 for a song. It was all there although it has a few non stack parts, like fancy valve adjustment covers and finned side covers.
Looks like I will need a clutch side handlebar switch assembly as mine is broken. Bile looks to have been down a few times.
Anyway just thought I would introduce myself to the board. My wife says I have no business at my age riding a crotch rocket.  :P

The 500 was never an f model. Only the 550s were available from 75->
