Good choice!
Thanks! I was going back and forth between 3 different colors. After I did some sketches with black accents, this one was the winner.

This should start moving along a little quicker now, I have a few weeks and some free time before demo begins on my house. I had to replace head gasket on motor because of some major weeping. Now cleaning that up for paint. I also got some side covers from a F bike that I will fit to this frame, then send out for powder coating.

Moved 1 tab to be able to mount the F side covers. Frame, swing arm and wheels/hubs are going for powder tomorrow. Started bodywork. Got all the paint off the tank, it's in very good shape with only a few small dents.

Sprayed a guide coat to see where I need filler on all parts. Going to sand and apply filler tomorrow, tired.

Damn, I love the shape of F tanks.  This would look good in cleared bare metal.

What product / method did you use to remove the paint, I have to strip the paint off my tank and am curious to see what is the best option

I used "aircraft stripper" not the spray, the gel stuff. I brushed it on, then scraped off with a plastic scraper. Repeat until paint is gone. Then I used a fine steel wool with plain water and went over the whole tank. Rinsed, then wiped with wax/grease remover. Worked well for me.  I'm learning all this as I go along. Eastwood has some good videos on their website.

That's a great technique, Dave. You can also use ScotchBrite pads in lieu of steel wool to help both clean and polish the bare metal. Red or Green pads work great and are available in most paint stores and some Home Centers.

Sanded after guide coat, now I can see where I need to fill in. Going to do filler, one more guide coat, then sand before 2k primer.

On most paint strippers you can use plastic wrap on top of the stripper to help it to work a little better without as much evaporation/drying. Works well where there are difficult spots.  Just apply your paint stripper in an even coat and lay over a sheet of platic wrap and rub it to remove any air between the wrap and stripper,  goal being to remove the air, not displace or move the paint stripper.

Nice bodywork. I'd love to see one so clean you could do bare metal with a clear coat.

This tank was almost that clean. I bet with a good paintless dent repair person and some polishing it could have been awesome to clear.

I just saw a "paintless dent repair" video where a guy used an inner tube to gently push out the dents.  I can't find it now to post it.

I've got all the bodywork done and in primer. I decided to smooth out and paint the oil tank instead of a side cover. I was planning on painting today, but got volun-told that I had to work. I'm really happy with how its come out so far and with what I've learned so far about bodywork. I'll post some pics tonight after I get home for a few hours, but won't be able to lay down any pain until Wednesday (back to work for 48 hrs.)

Put together a paint area in my garage. Laid down last coat of 2 part epoxy primer. Going to final sand after it cures/dries then the color finally!
