Yeah, mostly ready. I still need to true the rims and mount new tires.

I was trying to figure out the handle bars. The bike came with some Renthal fatbars that are 1 1/8" tapered to 7/8" at the ends. They looked ok before, but not on the bike now. I thought about shims so I could put a set of 7/8" bars into the clamps, but still didn't like it. Clip ons seemed too low without rearsets. But, I just came across some tarozzi clip ons that have a rise to them, I think they will be perfect! I'll post some pics once I get home and mount them up.

I like these bars, they look good and feel well made.


I need to modify the stop on the lower tree. The clip on part of the bar can touch the tank.

Ok, fixed my steering stop so there will be no contact with the tank.
M6 time-sert drilled and threaded.

How are you guys mounting these type of fiberglass seat pans? (I have not modified the frame) I know I will drill out the back lower part to mount to the frame tubes, and I will place some thin rubber pads under where it contacts the frame to get the height right. I was wondering about securing the front. I will have the stock battery box, oil tank, etc. Any suggestions?

It's a roller now! Tires mounted (shinko 712) seat is upholstered too, haven't figured out a way to mount it yet though. Took some pics out of the garage with its older sibling

Thanks, that would be great! I have an idea, but it would be hard to access. I'd love to see what you are talking about.

I used the Frankenstuff mounts on my old 750 - a rubber clamp around the frame rail with a tapped mount for the seat.  Mine kept cracking in half (the rubber portion).  I noticed that the ones that failed were close to the oil tank.  I think Frankenstuff changed the "formula" on the rubber to make them stronger.

I wish I had welded in tabs before powder coat. Dumb oversight.

I never heard of them cracking or a changed material, so Don's info may be valid...

Those could work, the only problem is that the upholstery pan would have to come off to access those top screws and it is attached to the seat by threaded studs coming out the bottom.  Ill post up a picture in a little bit of what I am trying/thinking so far and get your guys opinions.

Those are the mounts I originally used.  I got one of the first batches.  They work great in providing a mount point that has some cushion.  The ones on my right side (oil cooler side) kept splitting.  Like I said, Frankenstuff said he changed the rubber material so later runs might be okay. 

Dave, I, too had your dilemma re powdercoating.  I ended up touch up painting over the welded in tabs (along with a later installed Gordon's frame kit).  All of it was hidden anyway (but I KNEW!).

That should work.  I would include a grommet under the head of the nut (between the nut and the seat) to displace the force of the nut against the fiberglass (to help guard against stress cracks).

Ok, what am I missing here? While looking at the bike the other day, I noticed the rear tire seemed to be off the centerline of the bike, to the left side a bit. Then I noticed the sprockets don't line up. I've been checking parts diagrams as well as looking at the other 78k I have in the garage, and it seems I have it put together right. Nothing makes sense to me here. Any ideas or experiences?
