any electronics engineers here?
« on: December 15, 2006, 02:04:41 PM »
does anyone have or know where I can get a MOSFET transistor BUK455 - 200A

I believe it has been discontinued now.

try GOOGLE

I got 82 hits with the description of the transistor you gave...

Results 1 - 10 of about 82 for MOSFET transistor BUK455 - 200A.

Any good electronic component shop should be able to get a compatible type
here are a few.

BUK455-200A = STP19NB20
BUK455-400B = STP7NB40
BUK455-500B = STP6NB50
BUK455-600B = STP5NB60

Depending on what the MOSFET is used for on or the other type may be more sutable.

Just asking, is that a NPN or a PNP transistor?

A MOSFET is a Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor.  It does not have a PN junction like an NPN or PNP.  It sort of works like a valve by squeezing off current flow.

DUH? I guess it has been some time, and I thought I was being all smart  ::)

Its function is similar to a triode tube.

But only with a flux capacitor between gate and trigger...  ;D

have you tried ebay?

tracking down obsolete ic's can be a pain. have you tried calling/emailing the manufacturer and asking what to use as a replacement?

IRF644 could work. It has about the same characteristics as the BUK455-200A.
The IRF series is usualy quite easy to find. Ebay lists one http://cgi.benl.ebay.be/IRF644-Power-MOSFET-250V-14A_W0QQitemZ160063384866QQihZ006QQcategoryZ4666QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD2VQQcmdZViewItem

Use at own risk.
