This was a job for one of my regular customers.  Hadn't run in 20 years or so.  After removing mouse nest, ultrasonic cleaning carbs and replacing broken needle jet(never seen that before, as though some hamfisted mechanic tightened the main jet until the needle jet snapped) the ugly Seca fired up.  Test rode around the block and realized the fork tubes were bent, straightened and it was good to go.  Bike quit running, the special positive cable was broken, found one on eBay for the princely sum of 10$  with shipping included.  Mices ate the air filter, found it on eBay for the same price.  It sure is ugly....................and it can't even cook ::)

This model took the top prize Frank, I don't think there was an uglier bike made in the 80's.

He he, well I can think of some competition for that pig Larry, how about:

The classic Golf Cart!

Fake Harley anyone?

What about a Spaghetti Western Frank?

Or a beautiful BMW Cruiser?

Good looking bikes................ ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

What model BMW is that?  After watching Alastair Seeley in the Northwest 200, I have a new interest.  LOL

THE PLASTIC MAGGOT Terry.  c'mon man you know it makes a wonderful Golf Cart ::)   The PC was like having your father's station wagon- great storage, smooth ride, tractable, adequate power.  I don't miss mine but I did enjoy the ride. Also enjoyed my Silverwing.  Doesn't say much for me, does it?

Watch it, guys - "Beauty is in the Eyes of the Beholder"! I am sure there a some among us who find the one or other bike "good looking".
The Honda PC800 was nicknamed "Yoghurt cup" in Germany. The BMW is a R1200CL/CLC, introduced in 2007. Part of BMW's ill-fated attempt to get a share of the cruiser market. They abandoned this when the displacement war kicked in and Twins had in excess of 1500cc. The BMW Boxer could not be increased in displacement that much.

Besides enjoying the ride of the PC I actually  liked its looks, Mike.  Thread is all in jest,  I became a bit attached to the Seca while working on it and bought it from my customer for the outrageous sum of $300 ;) :o  All the work I previously did on it was not paid of course.

The 80's were not a great time for motorcycle design, particularly instrument panels. I walked past a GL1200 Aspencade yesterday with the digital dash Honda fitted to it for a while.

I rather like the Pacific Coast Terry, but I can understand why others wouldn't.

I agree with Terry on the first three, but I think he's being a bit harsh on the BMW. With a different tank and seat, and if it ditched the fairing lowers, luggage and backrest, it would look quite nice... ;D

I have a Nighthawk if you want to trade bikes?

We can then swap horror stories, compare knuckle scars/burns, and discuss how a bike could go so very very wrong.

Took the wheel off to put new booties on..   Shinkos, good enough for the type of riding I do and priced right(less than $100 for the pair).  Plan to use it to commute to work instead of using the Concours or Katana-mostly  the Katana because  I can flatfoot at a stop.   25000 posts Stev-o?  You and Terry having a contest?....Larry

Steve hasn't even been a member for 10 years yet Larry, he's just got more time on his hands than me! But I digress, it might be that "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" thing, but not all BMW's of the era were ugly, I still quite like the lines of my 1989 K100RS. ;D

Some photos of the fuglyone after cleaning and minor detailing.  I do have plans for the bike that hopefully will improve it so it won't be the illegitimate child of a rock and roll star

Too bad the left exhaust is mangled :(

Beside the ugly tail fin what bothers me most about the bike is the dark blue color.  I have never been a fan of black or very dark bikes and all black riding gear. BAD VISIBILITY.  I'll do whatever it takes to make me more visible to any possible cager assassin.  I have 5 riding jackets, all are brightly colored except for one all black Joe Rocket, which I only wear during daytime.  Most every bike I've owned has been red, yellow, white or silver.  This Seca may wind up old Yammie Yellow, similar to the old 70's  YZ or Yamaha road racers.  Similar but not so over the top
