Nicky was the last of the American GP champions raised on flat track racing.  He was the end of the line of dominant American riders on the world stage that stretched back to Steve Baker 's F750 championship in 1977. He gave American GP fans some of the biggest thrills like his battle with Colin Edwards at Assen and his back to back wins at Laguna Seca.  He wasn't the brightest star, that role belonged to the man in yellow.  He wasn't even the most favored rider on his own team but he was our champion.  God Speed Champ. You will be missed.
