Agree with Larry, first thought was its kinda ugly.

But after a close look, motor looks good and exhaust looks great.

I get what everyone is saying about the styling, but which bike sold better, the traditional looking CB1100 or the FZ09?

Yep. But I don't hold that against them. Triumph makes a bunch of really cool bikes and you can buy a café or bobber from them that will actually work.

Yamaha and Suzuki are killing it in the naked department. About time Honda joins the party.

I rode a FZ10 a while back. Absolute blast. Comfortable, plenty of power, handled very well.

I hope they at least come out with a CB650X model like the 500. Nice dual sport ride to compete with the KLR650 and F650GS middle weight touring/dual sport bikes.

YES I was going to say the same thing. I'd really prefer the 650 engine for touring/2-up over the 500. There's a great aftermarket scene for the 500X to make them more adventure/dual-sport capable.

Solid looks.  Honda bean-counters put a speed limiter that is a PITA to defeat.  In fact, just about any performance mods are a PITA with this bike.  It has a stinkin' 1100cc in-line four that is capable of hauling butt, but they keep it locked up.    >:(

Eliminate the wiring harness, throttle bodies and EFI - and convert to carburetor? That would be a little work. Possible. I just wish Honda wouldn't lock their system.

ECU flash. People do it with sportbikes every day. S1000's are putting up big numbers with nothing more than a pipe ecu flash/tune.

Back when I had a Tiger 1050, there was a rumor - not sure how true, that the latest versions rolling off the line would null out the ECU if you tried to flash them with anything but factory diagnostic equipment.  That meant you couldn't use TuneECU to tweak your bike.  They did that to specifically enforce the regulations.

Again, I don't know if that was just rumor or true or only true in certain countries (like UK or Australia).  If so - I would imagine that presumably Kawi, Honda, etc would do similar things.

The crummy thing is that you can tune the EFI on most Hondas, Yamahas, Kawasakis, Ducatis, etc.  Honda just decided to stick it to the customer with this bike.  When you do try to do it, it goes into limp mode.

Guess they didn't want anybody turning the bike into an unassuming little sleeper.

Oh well, lectron carbs will fix that.

I thought someone finally solved this issue. I know the bike magazines were tearing their hair out trying to figure out how to do it, but eventually it did get solved. That said, I didn't take the time to do an internet search to find out.
