CB400F Handlebar
« on: May 25, 2017, 11:57:31 AM »
I am looking for a chrome "Superbike"-style handlebar for a project. It has to be less than 29" wide, preferably 27" or a tad less.
It seems like the guys who sell some of them have the wrong information available or do not bother to measure correctly.
Just bought an EMGO 23-12562 which was advertised to be 27½" and it is in fact almost 29"

I see several CB400F replica bars for sale. Can anybody tell me - definitely - what the overall width of the stock CB400F bars is?

The 400F bars are definitely more narrow and lower than Super Bike bars. Mine have grips on them, but the approx. width with grips is only 27.5".
Here are some older pics comparing the two.

If they are the right low profile, you could always cut off 3/4 to an 1" from each side.

I measured my CB400F bars w/ grips and they are also 27.5"

Great, guys! That is awesome! The 400F bars will be perfect. The rise and pullback is exactly what I am looking for and 27.5" is what I wanted. Unfortunately, I cannot cut anything off the ends. I need 8½" room for grips and switchgear/mirror mounts on the outside of the bend.

Mike,
You should have enough room for that stuff on the oem repro CB400F bars, right?

I can tell you that the stock 500/550 controls and master cylinder fit on the 400F bars, both genuine and repro. The banjo bolt on the M/C can get tight around the gauges, but it fits.
Slingshot has the correct shortened upper hose, but you can snake the stock one around behind the headlight.

The 400F bars get good reviews from the guys here. What bike are you putting them on, Mike?

I may use them on my upcoming K1 project...

Switchgear and mirror mounts should have enough space on the 400f bar.
I am going to use them on my KZ1300 8) ;)

That's a heavy bike to put such short bars on Mike imo.   8)

The European version of that bike has shorter bars. They are just unobtainium. I secured a set of right side switchgear from Germany with the throttle cable exit to the top to clear the tank. The U.S. bars are hideous. High and wide. They are 29" wide and have a 4" rise.

Hey guys I found a couple Bike Master bars that work ok on the 750's wide clamp.
-G.P touring   110520 / 110521
-European     110530 / 110531
-Clubman       110540 / 110541

When I was shopping i was looking at the 400f bars but i was looking for some that arent drilled for the wiring anybody find undrilled ones?
