550 engine build journals from the archives
« on: May 25, 2017, 01:40:43 PM »
I think it would be neat for there to be a sticky of complete engine rebuilds.
Has anyone here posted a very detailed journal of a 550 engine rebuild?
The gmans express was good, but not entirely step by step.  Could use a nice reference in addition to the two manuals.  Mostly for the better color photos ;D

Did SohRon cover that in his 550 rebuild thread?

Not the engine rebuild. He outsourced that.

I found that all the info you need for a full rebuild can be in the forums, but scattered throughout different threads - it is a little harder to navigate now the in site search is gone. If you're about to embark on a full rebuild, you sound like just the man for the job Bomber!

I can try dig up some of my saved threads if that happens to be of help to you.

There are a few things about the lower cases I havent quite figured out.

I'm probably gonna do a quick n dirty lower case job.  Swap the primary chain for a gooder one and seal the clams back up.
