Hey that looks mighty fine Terry.  Is there a way I can get one of those from you??? I do not have a wrecking yard, at least not one with motorcycles, in my area.

It sounds like the oil cooler itself is easy to get.

Hey Canary, which sohc does that adapter fit? Does it require the use of a different filter?

Should fit any Honda with a finned filter housing.Retains stock filter and housing.

Is there an advantage to running the cooler off an adapter, I can understand doing so on a wet sump because you need to tap into the oil flow but on a dry sump can't you just tap into the return line?

I guess one advantage would be shorter oil lines.

G'Day Eldy, I can do em for OEM or spin on filters, they're $75.00 US plus shipping, if you want a cheaper "pot metal" cast version, (not as nice as mine, but cheaper) I've got a few old 1970's jobs for OEM filter set-ups, price is $75.00 US including shipping. PM me with your ashipping address and I'll get one off to you. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Don't be too distraught Mike, that "oil filter only" adapter is almost exactly identical to the one I made for Juha's mate Michael in Finland.

Hey Mick, how many flow holes are there in that adapter? I bored 8 x 7mm holes 45 degrees apart on Michaels, because as opposed to the oil cooler attachments, there's no obvious "up" or "down" with the spin on filter adapter? Cheers, Terry. ;D

I have seen them or something like them on ebay, if I am thinking of what you are. I suppose they can cool a bit but I doubt very much. I think they might be mostly for looks. Could be wrong though.

The small Lockhart one is a decent fit if you relocate the horn.
The one with the built in thermostat is likely too large to fit easily.
About all you can find now is kits for tractors- er harleys... the cooler is fine but there's no adapter for the oil connections.
You need an adapter between the oil filter and engine to attach the hoses to as well, Terry makes a very nice one and adapters occasionally come up on ebay, the same one fits pretty well all SOHC4 engines. Terry's one that uses automotive spin-on filters is pretty sweet.
If you have an aftermarket exhaust that has to come off to change oil filters (dumb design but I had one) you're screwed though because probably it doesn't leave room for the adapter height.
Kevin (eaglescall.com) sells some extremely nice kits with everything you need.

Terry,

I live in Oregon, so an oil cooler is not a necessary item for me.  However, just an adapter that would allow me to use a spin-on filter (minus the cooler nipples) would really make my day!

If you make them, or wouldn't mind making one for me, please let me know.

G'Day Tim, here's some pics of my spin on filter adapter, if you don't need a cooler, these are a great custom add on, and simpler to service than the OEM item. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Terry,  I'd really like the spin on adapter.  make oil changes with my new exhaust much easier.  Tired of getting oil on my headers.

Well alright Terry!!! I want one of those spin on filter adaptors. What does the one with the cooler look like? how much for each type(Cooler & non cooler)? What does that chrome filter come off of? It looks like a spin on I've seen on Harleys. Definitely something to put on my winter project list.

G'Day Breezy, as per my earlier post, the price for either is $75.00 plus $20.00 shipping. Not cheap I know, but I'm not Taiwanese and 6061 Aluminum billet (and good Bourbon) is expensive!

The chrome filter in the previous pic is an accessory item for a late model Suzuki bike that I bought on Ebay, or you could just take the adapter to an Auto Parts Store and buy whatever filter takes your fancy, I've used several types on my bikes, with no problems. Not only do they work well, they make oil changes (almost) enjoyable!

Here's an earlier pic of my K2 with an oil cooler setup that I've since sold to another sohc-er in Canada, but if you need a cooler as well let me know, I've got a nice Derale cooler hanging in my garage. Cheers, Terry. ;D
