Ultrasonic cleaner is paying off nicely
« on: May 27, 2017, 03:31:03 PM »
I'm working on the Sabre carbs today.  Had a problem where it ran just fine - it just wouldn't start for nothing.  My thought was that the choke and pilot circuits were mussed up.

I did clean them before using Berryman's.  Cleaned them again.  Same issues.

Since then I got my ultrasonic, have used it on my Nighthawk's carbs - and it worked magic.  Tried it on the Sabre's carbs and I'm finding out there there's clean and then there's CLEAN.

90 minutes at 65C (150 F) and they're sparkly clean.
4 gallons of distilled water, 1 gallon Simple Green.

I'm never going back to harsh chemicals again.

Which model did you buy? Interesting. I might get one because I am also tired of harsh chemicals.

It's a generic one that you can buy off Amazon.

I say generic because I've seen them with multiple names - identical model though.

Vevor is the brand I have.  Plenty of options, size, shape, you name it.  Loud as heck - I keep mine in the shop, just so the cat doesn't go bonkers.

I wish I had known.  I have a 7 gallon that I paid $1,000 for and hardly ever use anymore.

The detergent makes a big difference too.  I like dawn.  Also liquid Arm and Hammer laundry detergent works great too.
