CB550K Cannot adjust tappet on No2 Cylinder
« on: May 29, 2017, 10:00:04 AM »
I have a 1976 CB550K which I'm starting to restore. It does run but when adjusting the tappets, I have a problem adjust the exhaust valve tappet on No2 cylinder. No matter how much I turn the tappet adjuster screw out, I still can't get any feeler gauge in the gap. All other tappets have been adjusted fine. I'm using the Motion Pro adjuster so it should be pretty straightforward.

Any suggestions for next steps before I consider pulling the engine?

This is the only tappet that you're having the issue with?

Just wanna make sure you know you have to do 4, turn the engine, then do the other 4.

Could be a sunken valve..higher up in seat for whatever reason.

old 550 and 500 eats the valve shafts..or more korrekt..they veat the bores in the valvecover oval..so the adjusting gets imposibel..you adjust..and after rotate the engine 1 spin..it all are gone..and can not be adjustet...as the bores are get larget and the shafts svim in the big oval bores...

or is the threds #$%*ed up in the adjuster pin
i kan not speak english/but trying!!
