The back story I got was:
"The red one was his daily driver up until he got a deal on the gold one about six years ago. Drove the gold one up until about two years ago until the clutch quit working" (master cylinder I believe). The craigslist ad read "wife says either her or the bikes".

I think I can get the gold one running without much drama, but both will likely get the "frame off" treatment eventually. Some cracked plastic to address, hydraulics, suspension, oil seals, electrical, carbs, etc... same treatment any neglected vintage bike would receive.
