Hello - new to me 77 cb750 Supersport
« on: May 28, 2017, 06:25:12 PM »
Bought a 77 cb750 the other night and it sits in my trailer till giving it some thought. I liked the idea of a cafe bike, but at 56, I think I'd prefer to restore it someday, but for now just get it running to see how that works out for me. It turned over for me, but the seller wasn't home, so no key yet. It was cheap ($300), and I'm told it runs, so if my restorer buddy says 'part it out' then that's what I'll do. My first question can be seen in the attachment. Is this simply a cover? If so, I have some talented welder friends.

Welcome. Yes, thats a cover and it removes with a few screws. If the bike turns over, its probably worth more than the $300 you're paying for it. A good running, classic restomod is a very nice compromise between stock/original and a cafe. Quality rear shocks, some decent braking upgrades, and a nice state of tune and you'll be quite surprised at how mannerly that bike is. And how much enjoyment you'll have riding it.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of it's victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Lewis
