I have been trying to get my jetting situation settled for some time now. I did a chop on the 550k yesterday and it appears that I am running a little lean, but I would like to get a few more eyes on it before I get the screwdriver and needle nose out.
What do you think?
Thanks
(I am currently running 110s on one and four, and 105s on two and three... a bit of an experiment to see if I can balance out the additional air flow to 1/4 at high speeds due to pod filters)

The plug in the previous post is from cyl one.
The plug pictured here is from cyl two.
(sorry, my phone has some trouble focussing on small, close objects-- these are the best pics I could get)

Those look nearly ideal to me...but how does it perform?

Those look nearly ideal to me...but how does it perform?

Still, 110s on a 550? Way too much fuel at higher RPMs. Not sure what he has for intake or exhaust, but that would help figure out what's going on.

He said pods.

I see a clean burn brownish tan.  Not too shabby.

+1 if it runs well

Runs decent, though I don't have a frame for reference since it's the only cb550 I've riden. It has always seems a bit sluggish off the line, but at high RPMs is responds pretty well.

I am running 4/2 pipes, and pods. My needle jet clip is set to 3rd slot, slows are 40s.

If they look decent I won't mess with it. I was considering throwing 110s in 2/4 and 115s in 1/4 just for r & d, though that seems pretty steep.

Again....
what were the conditions of your plug chop?

Im not saying the chop results are bad.  They look quite good actually.
If you didnt test for a specific throttle position, its hard to give a definitive answer.

The test was for WOT position (or very near it)-- sorry I should have mentioned that earlier. I put about a mile on it at that throttle position, killed the ignition while maintaining WOT, and coasted off the highway.

I did an idle chop a few weeks ago with good results. The plugs were just a bit more tan than the pics I posted, which is what I was after (or at least I think that is prefered).

New plugs, or reused ones from your idle plug chop?  New plugs...then great.  time to ride.
If these are the reused plugs from idle plug chop (and the idle chop showed darker deposits) you might be running lean in your needle/main circuit.

I see. They are the same plugs as my idle chop. I might get a new set today and re-chop at WOT just to be sure. That makes sense though, thank you.
