gasket material that will withstand ethanol gas
« on: July 19, 2017, 12:49:56 PM »
I need to seal a mating surface that will come into contact with gas, but so far I'm not finding anything that will tolerate gasoline or alcohol.

It's a fuel tube, so it needs to be a paste that I can press or rub into position - otherwise I would just use neoprene sheet or the like.

Do you know if Permatex Ultra-Copper or Blue will withstand fuels?  Permatex says "not recommended", but in this instance it doesn't have to withstand pressure - just fill a small void.

Gasoline and Ethanol are unfortunately simply too good of solvents for their own good sometimes. >:(

Seal-all works good for gas and oil but stays kind of like rubber cement. It definitely works on areas where gas comes in contact and won't degrade from it

Wasn't sure if you happened to get some of that seal-all and give it a try yet?? I honestly think it will be perfect for what you need and like I mentioned I have used in the past with great results
