After the horrific attack in London last night, British police have issued guidance regarding the actions the public should take.

https://www.cityoflondon.police.uk/advice-and-support/countering-terrorism/Pages/stay-safe.aspx

http://www.npcc.police.uk/NPCCBusinessAreas/WeaponAttacksStaySafe.aspx

This advice is very similar to that being given in France with the exception that here people fleeing an attack are advised not to run towards the police. Assuming there is a choice ! We had the Gendarmerie around to our school recently and in a nutshell their advice was run like fcuk and every man for himself. I was sort of disappointed that the guidance was so basic and that there was no role or responsibility identified for teachers and staff regarding assistance to our 1600 students.

Can anyone here with experience of these situations comment on the guidance being given ?

The choice today is to migrate to a place where those aggressive pople do not want to move to. A country with no social welfare they can use. The people do not come to Europe for work. Parasites that use the welfare system.

People in France has just voted for a president that say yes for wideopen boarders and help the poor militant muslims. It is very strange today when politicians that has the own country and native people as number 1 get names like fascists from the media and the silly voting people buy the trick.

Europe has been overflowed with people from the 3:rd world with no thoughts about work plus beggers from Romania and Bulgaria sitting outside all shops making our country really dirty. That is what I see here in Sweden. All cities are full of these imbecilles that never will or can work.

The politicians do nothing about it. I guess its better to migrate before blood will flow on the streets.

 Gentle reminder, rule #9.

NO politics. This is from the forum owner. This is a crazy world we live in and this is a worldwide forum. There are many, many, many differing views and opinions. This is NOT the place to discuss them. If ya'll want to get riled up about something, start a pods or oil thread.

I hear a rumor that the terrorists are now using pods and greatly prefer Valvoline semi-synthetic on their bikes.

Is there no decency in this world?

That'll teach me to pose a sensible question !!

Anyhow it transpires that one of the perpetrators was named Mr Butt.

Always look on the bright side.

Run hide and tell?  I've heard that citizens in great Britain can get in more trouble for defending themselves  from criminal attack than the perpetrator does.  This seems to lend some weight to that.  Even our government had to bow to reality so here is their current advice -

I'm sure we all feel terrible about that situation and all have things we would like to comment about but I think we had our knuckles whacked with a yardstick about good ole' rule number 9.
I'll have to see what the 8 before that one was to see how many of those I may have already broke before  :D

I prefer those guidelines. This is what I was hoping our French police would be suggesting, especially when there is only one principal entry/exit to most schools here, which could assist attackers to coral an entire school full of students. My belief is the staff, including teachers should be trained in emergency situations and expected to guide the students to as safe a place as possible. I definitely believe that in a last resort aggressive action against attackers may be required and should be attempted. Really, who will ask questions later.

There were some who had the pluck to fight. Apparently a Romanian was chief amongst them :

I would hope to have the same degree of bravery were I to be faced with the same situation.

In our active shooter class at work that's the way they taught it- run and hide and fight only as a last resort and there is no other way out.
I'll take the trial every day of the week over pushing daisies.

Not so easy in Europe  >:(

Is it too soon to mention that a majority of terrorist attacks are happening in gun-free places?

dont think it has much to do with that , if you are going to blow yourself to bits it doesnt matter how many guns the man standing next to you has .
more to do with the fact it is much harder for them to get in to america , and long may that remain so

So some twitlet strides up to an armed Gendarme in Paris this afternoon and starts to hit him with a hammer shouting "This is for Syria". The copper's mate soon remedied the situation.

Twitlet has time now in hospital, and no doubt soon an uncomfortable jail  to reflect upon his actions.

  • So, what do ya wanna talk about today?
Well of course if you believe the official report on 9/11, (the catalyst for everything that's happening now) 3 commercial airliners full of people allowed a handful of terrorists armed with tiny knives to somehow fly said aircraft into the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon, completely destroying the WTC and killing around 3000 innocent people.

Since then, we've been involved in two of the longest running wars in history, hundreds of thousands of people have died, trillions of dollars have been spent on the war effort, and the west has more enemies now than ever before. The world is not a better place for "The war on terror".

I've often wondered, what if those passengers had been able to over power the terrorists and those planes safely landed, what the world would be like today? Cheers, Terry.
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"
