The carbs on my 74 cb550k are o22a.
From what I have read, the mix screws meter fuel. Is this correct? I did an idle chop today and it looks quite rich. Turning them IN would lean the mix if I am not mistaken.
Clarification?

Thank you

Have you got a pic of the carbs? Is the screw before or after the slide? Meaning is the screw closer to the head or the airbox?

Jim's right about that - closer to the head and they meter fuel.

But I think PD 022A's meter air, not fuel - check though.

The screw appears to be on the back/airbox side. I'll try to attach a pic. So it would be air metering then....

Thanks

Yes that's metering air. Turn it out to go leaner.

I may be backwards again. If  Twotired on this forum will chime in, he would be able to guide you through better.

022a carbs have air metering screws for the pilot/ idle circuit.
The screw metering tips are hollow and cross drilled, which prevents shutting off air completely when seated.  Still, you turn them inward to richen the pilot mix and outward to make the pilot mix leaner.

The pilot circuit provides minimal contribution to the mixture at higher throttle settings.
