Anyone got measurements for a 750F2 swingarm?
« on: June 04, 2017, 09:17:12 AM »
Changed subject as I now believe mine may be bent. Mine is 10.5" between the axle mounting spots.

should be a spacer on the right side.

I thought so.  But it's not shown on the schematic so I'm not sure which one.  I've got a box full of random parts...

No labels other than 'sears'.  Must be pretty old!

Mind you, I don't own a 750 - I'm just basing that off what I've seen on pretty much every chain driven bike I've owned.  The drive gear makes it a requirement due to alignment issues.

Maybe that will help.

Thanks Eigenvector, that's the schematic I've been looking at.  Unfortunately, it doesn't show the caliper bracket and anything between it and the swing arm.

I must be missing something, but I've tried a small spacer and it made the axle too wide.  Does anyone have a pic of their 750f from the rear?

I've uploaded another pic of what I've stacked up in case somebody spots something missing.  Thanks!

The brake side chain tension adjuster looks weird. It should be identical to the other one, which fits properly to the width of the swingarm end plate. In the two images of it (on and off the bike), the threaded block looks to be wider on the brake side adjuster, not like it's the same part just bent open wider. Again, these two adjusters should be identical, and the one on the sprocket side is correct.
I don't see anything else strange or missing. Is it the correct swingarm? If yes, has it been bent?

It may be different, I'll check.  I have bent it in an attempt to reshape it (the PO had crushed it somewhat).

In any case the gap between caliper bracket is a 1/4" or more - maybe the arm is bent - anyone got the correct measurement width-wise?

If you have the swingarm off you can measure it for square.

It is square.  You're right, this should be a good indicator.  What I can't understand is why I still have a gap between my caliper bracket and arm, despite including all of the components I see in the manual and on other F2s...

Tempted now to just cinch it down..

Do you have an earlier sprocket carrier installed? The 77/78 models have a 10mm offset due to the double row output shaft bearing and need the later 10mm wider carrier??

You nailed it Jerry! Thanks!

Measured my spare and it is wider. I thought I had a pair of F2 rears - does this mean the narrower
One is an F0 or F1?

The rear sprocket on the wider one has only 43 teeth (vs 48) and is larger in diameter.  What effect will this have?  Now I'm worried that the sprocket on the motor won't line up...

43 is 630 chain.
48 is 530 chain, choose 1.
Inside your sprocket holder is a greasy spacer, it must be used, longer one for the wider carrier .

The narrower one is a pre-77 piece, F or K.
