1981 750 idle problem
« on: June 08, 2017, 11:19:54 AM »
hello im the proud owner of a dohc 750 with the cv carbs. i have not had the bike long and have just reassemble the bike. i cannot get the bike to idle for long and when you go to hit the throttle it bogs down and almost dies. i have cleaned the carbs twice with new jets, floats and everything and checket the float height also. i have synced the carbs with guages as close as i can but i have to keep the choke going. it has vance and hines 4 to 1 exhaust and pod filters nad factory jets that im aware of. can anyone please help?

The carbs will need to be jetted differently for the exhaust and pods. You'll want to check you valves and timing as well.

I'm sure you've heard before that the bike will run better with the original airbox than with pods. Putting it back on will make your life easier. But you can get it running decent with patience in getting the right jetting and A/F mixture

Does it have removable idle jets?    The 81 650 cv's dont have.
