I shot some drone footage in Iceland
« on: June 09, 2017, 01:19:30 PM »

I also found a motorcycle museum, those pictures to follow.

Enjoy!

Very nice.   I'm in the USA and I sold a very nice ski boat on eBay a few years back and a guy from Iceland bought it.

This was my third trip. In 2009 when I went there I didn't see any other tourists and everyone was excited to meet an American.... this trip... Icelandic people were the minority and there were tourists EVERYWHERE.  I can only imagine how cool it would have been back in the 80s

Yeah, well I shot at some drones that were flying overhead w/o my permission over my property,
while I was illegally poaching deer the other day.

That Mavik Pro is something else!  My good friend has one and was raving about it when I showed him your Iceland clip.  Amazing color.  He's taking his to Costa Rica in a week.

Mavic Pro has "follow me" function that can make a video of its owner riding his bike, right? And automatically avoid obstacles too?

Yep, it is called active track. You can tap on an object on the remote screen and it will follow it.  You can also make it pan around the object in either direction and speed.

It only has front facing obstacle avoidance, so I would definitely only do that in an open area

That and I believe it has a top speed of about 40 mph, so you cannot run the bike flat out or the drone will have to play catch-up.

that is very true, especially when you are asking it to rotate around the subject.  It would have to be going 100+ mph in order to rotate around a target traveling 50mph 100ft away  :o

When I was tracking our car in Iceland we had to go pretty slow, I will just ramp the speed in post ;)

It is best for tracking walking/jogging/hiking

Still cool.  I bet it would be great for bicycling or skateboarding.  Imagine footage from Venice Beach skate park tracking a single rider.
