And another in qualifying.

Yup. The Irish contingent there are much saddened. The mountain course is very unforgiving.

Man (no pun intended), what a tragic week.

Martin had a nasty off, too, on the new Fireblade when the bike when into neutral at approx. 140 mph (if I deciphered Guy Martin-ese correctly).  He looked seriously shaken afterwards.  That's two crashes from two highly skilled, IOM riders on Honda's new bike due to mechanical failures.  Martin was kind in saying that the bike needs more (development) time.  I hope Big Red has their engineers sort this stuff out so nobody else gets hurt racing them.

Just settling down to watch the highlights of the Senior TT here. 6 laps, 225 miles in an hour and a quarter on public roads. Just to put that in perspective, that's about the same distance from where I live to Liverpool, which would take me around five hours using motorways. These blokes aren't human!

Very entertaining stuff.  With the on-board camera shots you get a feel for what it's like going through town at 180 mph.

Watching it on a phone is no better.  It does foster some respect for the riders reaction times.

The speed you eventually get used to. Taking your helmet off in the paddock after a race and finding the side scraped away by a stone wall that you never knew you had brushed along is always a moment for reflection.
