New wrist pins and teflon buttons.
« on: June 10, 2017, 07:14:28 pm »
Alright, so not to step on Jays' rod thread I started a new one for the subject topic.

Any clues where can I get brand new wrist pins for a set of 72mm pistons and a  new set of Teflon buttons??  At a minimum I will need a set of buttons as the wrist pins in this used set are tapered and l feel comfortable in reusing them. According to my calculations the buttons need to be approximately 8mm long if I keep the used pins.

Bill, I do need the parts but wouldn't feel right expecting you to give up a set you may need for yourself.

Hmm, so you have an extra set also??? Maybe between you and Bill, I can buy a set for this engine I'm about to build.

When I buy buttons for roller bearing engines, the normal process is to measure the pin length, then the piston size. Subtract the numbers and divide by 2. Once i determine that number, MTC is where I normally source my buttons. The problem right now is they have no listing on their website for 15mm buttons. I'll call them this week. Might be contacting you it Bill afterwards. 😞
