There is a cam chain tensioner on those little bikes. Do you have a shop manual? if so, check it out. I believe it comes up from the bottom.
How many miles. Popping the top on one of those motors and changing the chain is pretty easy and cheap. I've rebuilt so many of those could almost do it in my sleep.
