2nd opinion on carbs needed
« Reply #75 on: July 22, 2017, 10:19:07 AM »
For anyone who ends up reading this thread this is where I ended up:

118 mains
42 Slow
Needles 5th Position
Air Screws 3/4 turns out
4 in 1
Individual K&N Pods
Altitude 4600ft

064A carbs

What I learned - Pods are a #$%* to tune.

Also how screwed am I? Bikes running awesome even with this crack.

Full Choke on Startup and after that...Problems
« Reply #77 on: November 21, 2022, 09:32:30 AM »
'78 Honda CB550K starts up with full choke like a dream.  Gets warm and on the way closing choke sputters and dies on throttle.  Too lean?   Using 100 main jet, and slide pin is on 2nd notch.  My air mixture screws are on 1 1/2 turns outwards.  Using stock air filter and box.  Also, at speed coming off throttle runs backwards, this seems like a timing issue?

My main question is to get the bike off full  choke and to have her not sputter and die on throttle.
