Yes, never a fan of retiring some parts early, but doing preventive maintenance with good parts changed out before they fail allows you to have less interruption in operation and controlled cost within that maintenance program. Somethings are really best changed out before they reach end of life or exceed typical MTBF ( Mean Time Between Failure) time intervals. It is those outliers failing early that are frustrating.
These days even some great bearing makers like SKF have some bearings made in China. Whether they are the same quality I am betting they are as the company would not wish to submarine their reputation over a few dollars, but beancounters have convinced those in charge at many companies to do so. The pressure of modern stockholders and wall street is fierce for many companies.
