Having brushed the nose of a large black newfie dog with my foot pegs, and had my buddy behind me hit the dog full on, I can see how it happens.
My buddies passenger came off the bike, but buddy had his leg tangled up between his front wheel and motor... Took a bit to untangle him..lost some skin and got ground up a bit..
 It hapoens......

By ex-boss was cleanly stripped off his Katana at 55 MPH one dark night by a deer: it ran from far off to his right, jumped right out across the road as he got there. Broke his shoulder, crashed (and stopped riding) his bike, deer hopped away!

1+ I had a suicidal coyote jump directly into the side of my bike, with no warning. Bastard bent some parts on the bike, but I didn't crash. I did suck wind in the milliseconds before impact, and maybe screamed like a girl? (In a full face helmet, no one can hear you scream. ::))

Last Saturday just a couple miles outside Kingsport TN I was traveling on 11W heading southwest when a good sized wild turkey ran across the road in front of me.  I was in my car and  did not see it before I was less than 50 feet from the big gobbler who was determined it was the time to cross the road.  I barely missed him with the left side of my front bumper and had made an effort to slow the car from 60 to about 50 before he escaped.  So much for a turkey dinner Sunday.
Accident repair from such a bird strike would not be fun; as aftermarket front grille surround goes for 100-125, grille about 40, headlights 80-100, corner lamps 50+, etc.  Paint work we all know is inexpensive. ;)

I ran over a racoon once.  Long before ever owning a motorcycle.
If he had just followed his pal off the road instead of turning to run back into the road.
Poor trash panda prolly didn't feel a thing after realizing he fcuked up.

Yeah it's way too easy these days.. can't predict animals..

Took the FXR3 out tonight after getting an electrical problem ironed out and narrowly missed a deer in a tight corner.. didn't have glasses on so the wind was giving me the water eyes and didn't even see him till the last minute.. I could have reached out and slapped him with my hand, that close.... thank whatever powers that be that he didn't jump or move.

Several riders have already died this spring/summer already in Southwest Mi because of deer. Couple others for other misc wrecks. Common theme seems to be no helmet usually.

It's Olympic National Park, he's lucky he didn't run into a whole herd of elk. Plus the fact that since we are the fastest growing metro area in the country we have definitely got our fair share of idiot drivers/riders that just don't have a clue.

I did not see any deer in the only town in Texas I ever worked in:Deweyville, but many nice people and not one of them named Dewey.  ;)
