Topic: Am I missing something?

I'm starting to feel real stupid... just doing a simple oil and filter change. Manual says put 3 qts in. I put in about 2.5 and it's almost to the top of the filler cap. So then I measure the oil I took out and it's only 1.5qts? I kicked the engine over a few times while the oil was draining to get the last little bits and even kicked it over to fill but now it's not draining to the engine?

Note this is all done on the side stand, does it need to be on the center?

Ugh alright I'll drain and refill again. If I already changed the filter would I need a new one? I did turn the engine over the first time via starter just to try to get the oil to drain into the engine...

Also the engine is a 750F after taking the filter out and reviewing the OEM parts finder I noticed there were a few parts missing, specifically:

5    15414-300-000    SEAT, OIL FILTER SPRING    $4.98
10    15473-300-300    VALVE, CHECK    $4.95       
11    15474-300-310    SPRING, CHECK VALVE    $4.64       
12    15477-300-300    PIN, SPRING SETTING    $4.13

How important are these parts? I'm going to put in an order which will take a couple weeks, just wondering if I should not be riding or even turning over the bike without these?

Why waste 2.5 quarts? You did a partial oil change. It is now MUCH better than before. Use it.
