Is anyone coming to Born Free this weekend?  Although it is predominantly the American V-Twin crowd, it does attract some old-school cool.  Last year, Kiyo won with his twin-CB750 bike that he actually took and ran at Bonneville.  RSD built a 2 stroke race bike a couple of years ago, too.  Last year, they brought the Wall of Death.

I usually go with my painter buddy (Bondo) since I'm close by, and we get free beers from all of the builders and vendors he's painted bikes for.

I saw a few choppers rolling on the freeway today with camping rolls.  The crowd is beginning to roll in.

Advice: Purchase a grass pass if you a couple months in advance -- so you can park your bike on the actual show grounds versus the gravel lot outside.  And, if you are going to do the camping thing, purchase a camping pass well in advance.  Further, note that it will be as hot as schweddy balls.  Be prepared to drink PBR or whatever else is on tap.

Cristian Sosa's metal fab skills are amazing. He had a show stopper at the One Show this year and just built a new bike for this show. I got to hang out with Cristian at the One Show and he's a great dude too.

He forges and shapes his custom parts. Truly built not bought.

He did not quite finish this bike in time for the show, but it was so stinking good they wanted him to show it anyway.

Local builders Shaun and Aaron Guardado of Suicide Machine Company (https://www.suicidemachinecompany.com/) get asked by Harley to build a new custom each year. This year they finished a XG750 Flat Tracker and raced it on Thursday night at the Costa Mesa Speedway.

Last year, it was a new XG750 made into a sport bike with BST carbon fiber wheels and single-sided swingarm and Ducati 1098 geometry

Local builder Brandon Holstein who is 1/3 of the Speed Merchant (http://thespeedmerchant.net/team/brandon-holstein/) also is invited each year to build a bike for Harley. His new one also went racing Thursday and picked up a 1st place.
