750: Guiliari Seat fitment?

Alright so i have had a Guiliari seat for a while i finally got around to re-doing it and tonight i went to put it on and it doesnt friggen fit. The bike is a 74' and has a genuine 74' OEM honda seat that fits perfectly. when i put the Guiliari on, the hinges fit fine but the latch plunger will not line up with the latch by about 1/4" to 3/8" even after bending and tweaking the hinge bits this is the best i could get it. The picture is the plunger in the latch and the seat closed over it again about 1/4" to 3/8" out?!?!?

Im curious to know if Guilari's are a one fits all 750K's or if there are a couple different ones or maybe early ones vs late ones?

At this point i figure i have 3 options:
-Run without the latch and enjoy - Not sure its the best idea that it can open when ever potentially while riding
-Cut the studs off drill and squeeze some nut-serts in the correct location bolt latch in.... -  Downside is im kinda molesting a rare and desirable part
-Make some sort of custom latch plunger base to work with the studs - spacing may be a big problem for this

Chris, without having the seat in front of me so I can compare with my Giuliari originals and reproductions, I can't confirm this, but you may have a Giuliari for the '69-71 CB750. The latch is in almost the same position but not quite. If this is the case, you would need to mount the earlier non-locking latch and receiver. The bolt holes in the frame are at the same location.

Yep, that's a K0-K1 seat mate, you can tell by the bolt spacing for the latch. Unless you're married to having a lockable seat, just do as Ted says, and buy a K0-K1 latch set. Cheers, Terry. ;D

I have a latch for a 71. The latch that locks onto the frame. However I think you would have to modify the frame?

Tews, I believe both early and mid-models of CB750K latch bracket bolt into the same frame holes. But hopefully someone who has done the conversion will chime in...  RR

Yep, it'll fit, I had a K2 with a K1 seat on it, no problemo. ;D

the bolt spacing is correct for the later K2 - K6 latch, I have had a look and the K0 style looks much closer spacing maybe someone could get a hole to hole dimension?

I have a 2nd latch mechanism that could be 750 but could also be something else, 500, 550?!?!?  but the lower hole doesn't line up. the plunger looks to be in a slightly different position inward and forward.

 

When you guys are talking about the early latch type im assuming your refering to the non-locking K0 type? It seems this was the mechanism 69-71 then 72-76 they changed to the lockable spring plunger design
