Day six of excessive heat warning. Two more to go. No barbecue grilling again tonight. Beer is cold however. ;)

Taken at 1700 hrs. MST.

Can't you just lay the meat on the grill and leave it out in the sun?

Yesterday 104 record high for the day here.
Today ~80.
Texas, go figure...  ::)

It's been hotter than normal in my part of AZ this year; last year, there were only four days above 100, and the hottest was 106.6 on 6-20, and the monsoon started a week later. This year there have been 7 days in a row with temps over 100 so far, and the hottest was 109.8 on 6-19. It did rain a tiny bit this afternoon, but not before it got to 104. After the rain, it did cool off some, but it isn't a dry heat anymore. ::)

All I know is that dry heat allows the use of swamp coolers, where as here in NJ the air feels (and taste) like you dove into a swamp.

It felt as hot as balls today in SoCal. Tomorrow projected to climb 12 degrees.  NorCal is in the 90s - very uncommon around the Bay Area.

Arizona in mid July is schweddy with Monsoon humidity.  I guess I will count my blessings!

Steve,  do you know why New Jersey has more toxic waste dumps than California has lawyers?
NJ got first choice.  Yes,, we finally see a few very nice days ahead with low humidity...I will enjoy that very much...prefer AZ when it is not monsoon season.

Here in Vermont we usually only receive 2-3 weeks of hot weather, so you won't hear me complaining. Dry heat or not.

Hot is hot. I played a game of cricket once in outback Queensland. 47.9 c.
It was dry heat and everyone ended up with a splitting headache and we all choose to go home instead of  free beer and tucker.

I shouldn't complain as it gets hot every year and in reality we got thru most of June with bearable temps. Cool mornings.

Almost July now however June has the highest temps in Arizona. Most think it's July and yes, humidity goes up but June is hotter.

I'm a Indiana boy so I just keep telling myself I'll take the heat over snow, ice and freezing temps. Worked outside all my life and I haven't forgot the missary of it.

It's all good. Shop early, stay inside, and do no more than nessacary.

I agree with you. I prefer the heat to cold. But even though I know it's coming every year, the first 110+ day always makes me wonder why I'm still in Las Vegas. (I'm an Indiana boy as well) At least my new workshop has A/C.

The PNW is a very mild climate with lots of lush greenery as well as one that sees that drizzle you guys call rain, a lot, so, it wis a radical departure to your norm.

You know it is going to be very hot and stay that way when AZ nighttime low temp is in the 70s or high 70s.
Once the humidity starts going up everyone hopes and prays the monsoon start soon as the humidity and heat are bad combos...then they want the rains to hit late enough in the evening long enough that the temps do not soar back up making all that rain turn into even more oppressive humidity.  Plus lots enjoy the rain, had a friend who would go play in the rain like a little girl if the storm did not have lightning or is not opening up like a waterfall...
The weather is often dramatic in the dessert SW...quite different than many other areas of the country.

Just requires bigger units and larger inside coils to take advantage of the heat exchange capacity.  They have to super insulate for against heat rather than cold for it to be efficient.  An old car like the Volvo 240 and early 740 s had substd AC for our climate not in dessert conditions, the Swedish engineers did not get it until Volvo N. America talked them into sending engineers over for the problem.  Flew them into Tx on a 90-95 degree day.  Disabled the AC and disabled the power windows.  The 90 minute ride from the airport had the engineers take the interior door panels apart to access the switches and wiring to get the windows to roll down.  After that they finally redesigned the AC to be improved to provide better AC system.

My Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptor will absolutely freeze you out as the AC and cooling system are enlarged to handle idling for long periods and sitting in very hot conditions that are challenging for many cars.  Some of the police cars for new models have had challenges and often have to have the hoods open so the cars do not overheat.  Ford went through that as did the old Caprice.  Louvered hoods were seen on some cars.  A few Chevy modern low frontal area cars are having those challenges as sitting they aren't able to flow enough air and the motors run hotter and leaner to begin with.  So they are facing some engineering problems.  Some false rumor was going around about cop cars with hoods up was a sign of something ridiculous.

People are gullible and stupid and believe things on facebook and false news sites too readily.

They  are quick to think the worst and in somecases do the worst.

Some false rumor was going around about cop cars with hoods up was a sign of something ridiculous.
Early this afternoon as I was checking out the fire from Main St, I snapped a pic of the smoke. It was maybe 87 degrees at the time. I didn't notice when I took the pic that the hood on the state troopers car was up a bit, but a short while later a car pulled up, and the trooper walked up and talked to the driver. Evidently, the driver decided he was heading south, regardless of what the trooper told him, and took off down the highway. The trooper ran back to his car, and it was only as he whipped a 180 in pursuit that I noticed the hood was open. He made it about 50 yards before the hood flipped up into the windshield. :o ;D ;D

I had a latch failure on a Volvo 240 and it flew up and wrapped itself back across the roof.  Luckily no broken windshield nor dent in the roof.  Had to go find a replacement hood at a local pick and pull salvage yard in Columbus (OH).
On modern cars with their dramatically sloping hood it was likely he did not notice it was even up before it flew up.
