Sorry if this is a stupid question, but will these things work in Radial Arm saws, does anyone know?

It will but watch out for flying carbide, A radial arm will turn about 4x's the recommended speed.

Check the max speed on the blade Brandon, you don't want a face full of shrapnel...............  :P
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I saw one that said it had a rpm rating around 4500-7000 rpms, I think. I will definatley check the rpms on the saw, I was just wondering if it would be a bad idea due to the way the blade is spinning relative to the metal. Even when cutting wood you have to be careful not to allow it to run.

Wonder of Ozzy would redo a song for me, Carbide Man, instead of Iron Man  ;D

Thanks,

The one I looked at was only rated at 1800 rpm. I would have no reservations with one that had a rating as high as 7000.
I think I'll take another look and see what I can find.

I don't think it would run on metal like they do with wood, unless the arm flexed enough for the blade to get on top of the metal.

The one I got for my circular saw was rated at exactly what the saw called for - 5800 RPM. I assume that the different sizes are rated for whatever theyre supposed to go on...

I'm surprised to see that, I would have thought that 5800 RPM was way too fast for cutting steel. There you go, I've learned something................  ;D

Well I've just "inherited" an old Brobo-Waldown two speed metal cold saw with it's own coolant pump, only cuts at around 50/100 RPM, but does beautiful, square, clean cuts in steel and aluminum.

I'm in the process of converting it from 415V to 240V which entails changing out the motors, rewiring the two speed switch and machining up a new mounting flange on my lathe, it's gonna be great when it's done and a real asset to my 'shop, but I think I'll buy one of those blades for my chop saw in the meantime, they look pretty impressive! ;D
