07 Bonneville Refresh
« on: June 25, 2017, 04:58:40 PM »
This month was the Bonnie's 10th birthday.  So it got a little freshen up :)

Done:
- Decided to skip Airbox Eliminator kits and install a KN Filter with a Norman Hyde Bellmouth
- Installed Hagon 2810 Rear Shocks
- Racetech Springs and Gold Valve Emulators (Did 2.5 turns on blue spring to start)
- Installed Norman Hyde M-Bars

To Do:
- Replace Rear Rotor with Galfer Floating Wave with new EBC Sintered Pads
- Polished SuperBrace fork brace on backorder....should get it early July (hopefully).

First impression of the suspension is positive.  I need to play with the rear suspension adjustment as it is extremely stiff for one-up riding.  Need to do some self educating on the dampening adjustments. So far the Front is feeling good but only time will tell.

Nice.  My 71 BSA Lightning keeps the 72 CB750 company in the garage.

Nice find. You might want to swap the peashooter for a Predator exhaust (British Customs) for better clearance and sound.

Had this bike since new.  These are actually the TORs that I had factory installed.  They sound fantastic and keep the stock look.

To each his own, right!  They look to be in good shape.  I guess I'm more of a Thruxton than a Bonnevile guy.

I toy'd with the idea for years of sporting out the bonnie with up-swept mufflers and rearsets, but we decided to leave it as is for the most part.  What I really want is to mount a sidecar to this bike at some point.  Always wanted a sidecar cruising classic  8)

Happy Birthday Bonnie! It's my Rocket III's 10th birthday on Saturday the 8th of July and I think I'll book it in for it's second service! ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I remember sitting on a rocket III when I was waiting for the paperwork to process on the Bonneville.  Told my wife it made me feel like Tex riding the bomb in Dr. Strangelove

That's right Joe, it's been in my family from new too, my brother ordered it from England and didn't even sit on one before it arrived. (He lived in the outback) When he went to ride it home he shat himself, so had his wife take a pic of him sitting on it, and parked it in his garage for 2 years until he called me and made me an offer I couldn't refuse. It had done 20 miles when I collected it and rode it the 800 miles home.

It is massive, but I like it, I'm a big guy, but I don't look too big for the Rocket. ;D
