I'm confused, are they racing a sail boat or a bicycle?

Those boats are amazing, but I think the Americas Cup should be raced with single hull boats using actual sails.

The boat's moving bits are operated with hydraulics.

The Grinders pump up the hydraulic pressure either with upper body and arms or legs.

The legs have bigger muscles, so the grinders can have longer endurance.

I also miss the days of hull and sail.   But, I don't think any of those get up to 40 Knots.

Sail boat racing has always been about the pinnacles of technology to go as fast as possible. Or any racing, really. Just look at MotoGP. Yes they are motorcycles but they're nowhere near what you or I could ever own. Just like these boats, there are lots of foiling/flying cats and monohulls that you can purchase. All of this tech trickles down from the Americas Cup/Volvo Ocean Race/Vendee Globe boats.
