My Ma loves boats. My grandfather built his own boats, and when she was a little girl in the 1930's, they had a houseboat that he'd built, that they'd holiday on. My Dad, on the other hand, hated boats, and could get sea-sick on a wet lawn. When I was a kid, my grandfather built my Ma a little Bondwood boat so we could all go boating on the river.
There was no love lost between my Dad and grandfather, but they both loved my Ma, so Dad dutifully bought a new Chrysler 7 HP outboard motor from the local boat shop, and we went boating. Dad put the boat in the water, we all piled in, and he ran the boat about a mile up the river, turned it around, ran it back to the trailer, and and took us all home again. The boat sat in the driveway and eventually rotted there, and went to the dump.
The little Chrysler outboard is still sitting in a corner of the garden shed, around 50 years old with maybe an hour of run time in fresh water? It's just a pity my Ma didn't like Honda CB750's............
