New 76 CB750k engine first inspection
« on: July 02, 2017, 12:12:53 PM »
So a few months ago i picked up a basketcase 76 all the right parts completely original, points and all and unmolested by hipsters.

When I looked at it before I bought it I thought I went through it fairly well but apparently I missed a few things. Let's be honest who hasn't gotten really excited while it's sitting there waiting to be put back together?

I have another 750 I'm working on and haven't had a chance to give this motor a once over since I got it set up on my engine stand. Today I am waiting for parts and decided to take a look at this motor.

I took off the cam cover and it didn't look too bad, mostly clean and valves at first glance looked like they were set correctly. So I started to inspect the intake and exhaust ports. I noticed that on cylinder 4 my valve guide seemed a bit off, when looking into the intake port it is sitting approx 4-5mm lower than all the rest. Please tell me I don't need to put new guides in this head? In the picture the nasty brown turd hanging from where the guide should be only hanging down a few millimeters.
