I am only about 2 and a half hours away.  That city totally sucks to ride in unless you really know where you are going.  TBH, I don't enjoy city life at all anymore.  Lots to do there though.  Bankerdanny and EdwardMorris/Rafi are both stand up guys.  I'd be surprised if you have time, but you should meet up with them guys and take a day trip to Michigan.  I could probably scrounge you up something to ride.

Try and visit the Museum of Science and Industry if you have time. WWII U Boat U505 would be the highlight for me.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooo..........

I don't want to go back to Chicago.  Please, don't make me....  Warning, I may bite!

Nothing looks the same as when I left anyway.  I think the "temporary" toll roads are still there, aren't they?  Bring plenty of cash/coinage.

I grew up 25 miles west of Chicago.  Best thing about the Vietnam war was that it forced me away from there.  My sister stayed.  Most proud of the shopping malls, she was.    For some reason, I'm still a Blackhawks fan, though. Still have sweaters.  But, gave up on the Cubs and baseball in general after my exodus.

Who is punisher that is forcing you to go?

...Especially not fun in the middle of summer heat and humidity.    Just dash from AC enclosure to AC enclosure, and you'll survive.

I agree the Museum is a highlight, though.   ... has AC!

Have fun on your trip/experience!

Cheers,
Lloyd... (SOHC4 #11 Original Mail List)

so we arrived earlier today. i guess i should have said two thing upfront:

this is not my first time here, far from it. my girlfriend is from chicago. we've been coming here once or twice a year for the past 15 years or so (i know... ask her and she can tell you very precisely the years, months, days). i suppose i can show myself around at this point.

as to what forces us: her mother just passed away, and we are here for the funeral.
so it is not a happy occasion and i will have some obligations but if there is an opportunity to meet up with some of you, that would be nice.

i see i got some PM - will answer them and hopefully we can arrange something.

the funeral business is done so today/tomorrow will be a bit more relaxed and we can do some fun stuff before flying back to amsterdam on sunday.
seems like everyone here has their own favourite pizza place, and they're all the best for some. guess i just need to try them all to verify these claims ;)

From one 76 CB550F owner to another, trust me.  I've tried so many.  Lou Malnati's and Giordano's are for tourists.  Way overrated.  Don't waste time in those joints.

And get an Italian Beef from Portillo's.

Too bad, looks like I missed you.

I actually like riding in the city, I like getting lost... makes it an adventure. I know if I head West long enough I'll find something I recognize.

We have a great vintage bike community in Chicago lots of stuff you won't come across on a daily basis Laverdas Vincents, Moto Morini and lots of long time CB owners that aren't on the forum.
