Odometer on tach ? ? Might be a silly thought
« on: July 03, 2017, 04:19:43 PM »
Speedometer quit a while back and I got to knowing where the relative speed on the tach is.

I like the look of bikes with just tach .. Would be awesome to have odometer still though.

I've never cracked into the gauges .. Can anyone that has chime in & confirm whether this is remotely plausible?

Did a quick photo chop, let me know if I'm just goobin here ..

The odometer is linked to the speedometer cable - so you're out of luck unless you go with an aftermarket gauge.

As for those - there are oodles on the market.

Of course there is always aftermarket .. Just thought it'd be a fun tinkering project for an original unit if possible. Could run a cable & speedometer parts just for the odometer function .. What I'm wondering is if there's any chance of the parts fitting inside of the tach, I have no idea what it looks like in there

There would not be room inside for both, even if you were able to run two cables, the mechanism for the odometer takes up a considerable amount of space. I'll see if I can find some pics of my gauges taken apart...

Ok, found a few. Here's a few from my thread, not the best pics, but you can see that the odometer/speedometer are linked together as one unit.
