rick's motorsport electricals regulator & rectifier
« on: September 19, 2017, 06:00:38 PM »
want to get all the honest thoughts and opinions on this product.

I was looking into this for my 1977 cb750 k, and im in the middle of building/mocking up an electrical box under my seat.
This new generation of rectifier/regulator seems to be great for saving space and room and being able to turn 2 things into 1.

i've heard more good things than bad but haven't heard enough... my main concern was, i heard was it causes over heating on some stator wires and other overheating issues.

can anyone help with my indecisiveness with this product? or suggest a better brand of this product? ... or just recommend going with original honda reg/rec..

thanks

I don't have much experience with them buy I'd say any overheating issue would be more likely old wiring.  It's not hard to rewire everything on one of these bikes

It doesnt have an adjustable VReg, which is why I stuck with the stock regulator and added an Oregon MC Parts adjustable Vreg.

I have 1500 miles on one with no problems at all.   Running a LIPO battery as well.   I would do the same combination again.
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

I installed one about a month ago and have no issues to report so far. If the voltage drop is acceptable at the location specified in the instructions it will function properly. Mounted it to the battery tray in place of the original regulator. Stock components work well too, but it is one less item to service so it is worthwhile to me.
