Oh no, this is too difficult this month.  But I think we all know how I feel about a "dirty traveler" bike... ;)

Hey Guys....thanks again for the nomination!  Here is my story:

Fellow forum buddy 70CB750 posted a CL listing like of a '73 CB750 for the low low price of $850 in Virginia.  I found it to be intriguing, called and made the guy an offer and he accepted.  Three weeks later it arrived in Texas and sat in the "Batcave" until early last year. Here is when I brought it home...

Quickly tore it down and it was off for blast and powder...

Both wheels were rebuilt with SS spokes, DID rims and polished hubs.

Motor was painted and put back in the frame.

New Avon in the front, Dunlop on the rear as well as new tubes and rim strips and I had a roller!

k3 26

Seat was rebuilt with new foam and perforated marine vinyl.

K3 30

Beautiful SS oil tank lines courtesy of forum member Rafi...

Raask rearsets were sent to Nils for vapor blasting and came out great!

Carbs were bartered from forum member BranDen [where is he?!] and pulled the NOS Henry Abe "breadbox" filter off the shelf. New insulators and clamps, of course...

Decided to go with the MotoGP exhaust, sounds awesome, and mounting it was a breeze...

After the motor failed the leakdown test, it was given a valve job, honed cylinders and new rings. I came to hate the Ford engine color so the motor was repainted

Frame came to me cut and a shade tree kit was installed. That didnt cut it with me and I installed one from Frank...

k3 52

New Ikon shocks from Restocycle....

Sent the bodywork out and after two months finally got it back. What is it with painters?!  Must be the fumes...

Decided to do the fairing in silver like the vintage Honda race bikes back in the day.

Here she is on her first ride to Arrowhead park...

It's just an amatuer restoration and only took ten months but I am very proud of it.
It really seems to turn heads when I'm out racing to all the area parks!

Thanks again for the nom...

I tried to give it a good nickname.  Vagabond, Wanderlust, Hitchhiker.  I bet Greg has one or two for it over the last 150K miles.

Congratulations to Greg aka Ofreen.  It was tied up with with Stev-o during most of the polling.  The Mile Eater or The 750 as Greg calls it was a favorite!

Great bikes ALL.  I had my own soft spot for Dave Barbier's hybrid 650/550.

Greg's bike is going to be some stiff competition for BOTY.  It was definitely a fan favorite.

The Park Racer and Dave's 650/550 are beautiful bikes, too.

I didn't expect the plain old 750 with a jammer to garner more votes than the two fine contenders. Both are a credit to their builders. Thanks to Jerry for the nomination and to all those that voted for the faithful steed. As for BOTY, it is up to me to make sure it survives the trip to CO and back. Gonna be a hot ride I think. And thanks to Sam, Bobby, Steve-o and Lisa for the kind words in the thread.

There are definitely certain bikes that resonate with the members -- Rafi's restoration, Dino's Hack-a-Week rebuild (with videos), etc.  Similarly, Mooshi was a fan favorite based on her long touring on her bike.  Yours eclipses even that as such a long term survivor.  It is a real life example showing that these bikes (with the right care) were built to last.  Well done!!

Greg, your bike is a different kind of special that definitely deserved the recognition. That takes nothing away from the other fine bikes. They may be prettier but....  See you two in a couple weeks. Have a safe ride  ;D

Well said by both members.  It was a tough decision---dirty travelers are never pretty--but the riders are spectacular!!   ;)  See you in a week or so

No need for thanks Greg. You and your bike made the first Godzilla run a success with your epic ride. Sometimes the bike of the month should not only be about looks, it should also be about proving the excellent design and manufacture of these machines. You and your machine earned that award.

Yep, like yours and the other F0s, hand assembled by Soichiro himself. ;)

Thanks, for sure the bike still cleans up better than I do. ;D

Thanks. It helps to not store them outside under a drain spout like some I've seen. This bike is a pretty good link to the past. What is remarkable is how good it still works without all the doo-dads modern bikes have.

Thanks Bobby. You are right about the design and manufacture. Add to that quality materials and you have something that will respond to reasonable maintenance. The other virtue of these things is the simplicity of them. There isn't that much that can go wrong with them, and when it does, usually easy to fix.

Jerry and Lisa, looking forward to seeing both of you again too.
